Inverted Mind Interview

1.For those that have never heard od you before, can you tell us a little bit about the band?
1. Inverted Mind was formed in 2011 in Cracow, Poland by Jan Slomski. After 1 year and many people passing through the band it has his... final structure of 3 members. We try to represent our own style which is the fusion of sludge, stoner, doom and post metal.

2.In January you had released a new album, how would you describe the musical sound that is presented on the recording and also how does it differ from the stuff you have released in the past?
2. New album is quite different from first one because we tried to expose other kind of emotions which are more depressive and psychodelic. We also wanted this album to be more heavy and cruel.

3.This is your first album to be released in 4 years, can you tell us a little bit more about what has been going on during that time frame?
3. First of all we create our music only when we have worse time in our lives. Our music represents the worse and the heaviest fellings and emotions which are borned in the darkest and deepest parts of our souls so we do not create riffs or music every single day. Second of all we wanted this album to be, in our opinion, perfect so it took many time to make it real. Finally, the 16-page booklet was very difficult to make. All the graphics were handmade. The last shape of them was created by our graphic designer.

4.What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects the band explores with the music?
4. All the lyrics on this album describe the worse feelings, emotions, memories from the past. All your weaknesses, fear, anger, sadness, spaceless, loss of hope, anxiety and everything which cause your soul dying.

5.What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name 'Inverted Mind'?
5. Inverted Mind describes the other part of everyone of us. It is a metaphor of subconscious, demon which lives in everyone of us and makes us fall into madness.

6.What are some of the best shows that the band has played over the years and also how would you describe your stage performance?
6. In those 6 years we played aboout 50 concerts but unfortunately we haven't ever played abroad. We hope, that some day it will happen. I think that our best concert was on 28.01.2017 at the release day of our new album. The biggest concert we played on 21.11.2013 in the biggest club of Warsaw. There were about 1200 people.

7.Do you have any touring or show plans for the new album?
7. Unfortunately we do not have any tour planned yet, just few local concerts: 18.03.2017 in Cracow, 1.04.2017 in Olkusz, 2.04.2017 in Rzeszow and 28.04.2017 also in Cracow.

8.On a worldwide level how has the feedback been to your music by fans of stoner and sludge metal?
8. Broken Mirror is still new so we do not have big feedback yet, but we know that many people find our music interesting and good. Of course there are some, that does not like it or describes as too easy or boring but abut 75% of feedback of all this year is that Inverted Mind is worth listening, and found as good, sludge metal band. I really hope that we'll never disappoint fans.

9.Where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?
9. We have just started making some new riffs so we do not stop making our music and of course hope that in the future 3rd album will be released. Looking into the future we would also love to play as many concerts as possible, not only in cities in Poland we never palyed before, but especially abroad or in some big metal festivals.

10.What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?

10. The biggest inspiration and our love is of course mighty Crowbar which not only inspires us to make music but also help us and gives power, hope and strength to live in so many dark moments of our lives. We also like and find inspiring bands such as: Eyehategod, Down, Superjoint Ritual, Amenra or polish Obscure Sphinx or Blindead. Our dream is to suport those bands someday.

11.What are some of your non musical interests?
11. We all love board games such as Talisman, Arkham Horror or The Fury of Dracula. I also like painting figures, games for PS4, numismatics (especially paper money) and reading books.

12.Before we wrap up this interview, do you have any final words or thoughts?
12. We would like to invite everybody to listen to our music, to follow us on our Facebook, YouTube or Bandcamp. We also want to thank all our fans for the support. Keep supporting metal. Stay Sludge!
