Corrections House/Last City Zero/Neurot Recordings/2013 CD Review

Corrections  House  are  a  band  that  has  been  featured  before  in  this  zine  with  a  musical  style  a  mixture  of  industrial  and  doom  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2013  album  "Last  City  Zero"  which  was  released  by  Neurot  Recordings.

"Serve  or  Survive"  begins  with  some  industrial  sounds  and  powerful  bass  guitars  and  a  few  seconds  later  melodic  vocals  make  their  way  into  the  song  and  then  the  music  gets  heavier  and  adds  in  some  aggressive  vocals  as  well  as  mixing  in  some  programmed  beats.

"Bullets  And  Graves"  begins  with  some  programmed  beats,  heavy  guitar  and  bass  riffs  along  with  some  aggressive  industrial style  vocals  and  the  song  is  less  than  3  minutes  long.

"Party  Leg  And  Three  Fingers"  begins  with  some  industrial/noise  style  sound  effects  which  lead  up  to  some  heavy  doom  metal  guitar  and  bass  riffs  and  a  minute  later  programmed  beats  and  melodic  vocals  make  their  way  into  the  song  and  a  few  seconds  later  they  start  getting more  aggressive  sounding  while  also  keeping  around  the  melodic  parts   and  towards  the  end  there  is  a  brief  use  of  saxophones.

"Run  Through  The  Night"  begins  with  some  acoustic  guitars  and  industrial sounds  along  with  some  synths  which  leads  up to  some  melodic  vocals  and  after  awhile  you  can  hear  alot  of  distorted  background  noises  along  with  some  spoken  word  parts.

"Dirt  Poor  And  Mentally  Ill"  begins  with  some  bass  guitars,  melodic  vocals  and  drum  programming  which  lead  up to some  heavy  guitar riffs  and  industrial   vocals  and  after  awhile  the  music  starts  adding  in  some  atmospheric  synths  as  well  as  some  spoken  word  parts.

'Hallows  Of  the  Stream"  begins  with  some  programmed  beats,  clean  guitars  and  saxophones  which  lead s up to  some  melodic  vocals  and  the  song  closes  with  some  drone  sounds.

"Last  City  Zero"  begins  with  some  clean  guitars  and  sound  effects  and  a  few  seconds  later  spoken  word  parts  make  their  way  into  the  song  and  towards  the  end  there  is  a  brief  use  of  melodic  chanting.

"Drapes  Hung  By  Jesus" begins  with  some  drone  sound  effects  which  also  start  mixing  in  some  harsh  noise  elements  along  with  some  programming  that  brings  the  industrial  sounds  to  the  song  as  well  as  some  aggressive  vocals  and  heavy  guitar  riffs  which  also  utilize  some  melody  and  the  song  closes  with  some  saxophones  and  harsh  vocals.

Song lyrics  cover  darkness,  negative  and  everyday  themes,  while  the  production  has  a  very  strong,  powerful,  heavy,  dark  and  professional  sound  where  you  can  hear  all  of  the  musical  instruments  that  are  present  on  this  recording  along  with  some  of  the  songs  being  very  long  and  epic  in  length.

In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Corrections  House  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  industrial  and  doom  metal,  you  should  check  out t his  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Serve  or  Survive"  "Party  Leg  And  Three  Fingers"  "Dirt  Poor  And  Mentally  Ill"  and  "Drapes  Hung  By  Jesus".  RECOMMENDED  BUY.
