Denied Interview

1. Can you give us an update on what is going on with the band these days?
For the moment it is to promote "Let them burn" which has recieved great respons with the press
which is very satisfying. We have also begun work on the next album and a few songs are going through the writingprocess.
It´s good to stay ahead of things.

2. How would you describe the musical sound of the new album and how it differs from previous releases?
As both musicians and as a band we are better today than compared to the older stuff with the previous albums.
Above all our singer Johan Fahlberg who was´nt with us back then has really made his mark on the music with his amazing voice.
You might say that with "Let them burn" we have really found our sound a mix of melodic and hard to cut it short!

3. What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects the band explores with the new release?
To be honest I dont have that much insight with the lyrics even if I basically know about some of the topics.
Chris Vowden who is our lead guitarist was raised in England writes all the lyrics and I trust him completely 100%.

4. What is the meaning and inspiration behind the bands name?
When I started the band 10 years ago I wanted a name that would be easy to remember and at the same time sound kind of tough.
I think I had four different names to choose from and "Denied" won the lottery!

5. What are some of the best shows that the band has played so far and how would you describe your stage performance?
We have played several great gigs through the years but one that comes to mind is the releaseparty we recently had in January in our hometown.
300 crazy people made that evening something out of the ordinary. We have always had a reputation for giving the best performance possible and heavy metal should and deserves to be played with blood, sweat and headbanging.

6. Do you have any touring plans for the future?
As of now we are working hard on planning gigs this year both in and outside of Sweden. Two festival here have so far been booked and we will do our best to come and play for those who like good music.

7. Currently you are signed to Sliptrick Records, how did you get in contact with this label and how would you describe the support they have given you so far?
When the music for "Let them burn" was written and ready we checked around for what kind of interest we could get. Sliptrick were the fastest to respond and really showed that they were anxious to work with us. The collaboration has been great so i´m very excited about the future.

8. On a worldwide level how has the feedback been to the new album by fans of metal?
The response has been incredible!! We feel ourselves that "Let them burn" is the best that the band has ever made. Many writinghours have been used to get the best possible result.

9. What direction do you see your music heading into on future releases?
The next album will naturally follow in the same footsteps but with that said I dont necessary mean that it will sound exactly the same as the previous recording. We just want it to be even better and we will surely give it our best!

10. What are some bands or musical styles that have influenced your newer music and also what are you listening to nowadays?
I listen to everything from 80´s music to whatever comes out today. Somewhere I just pick out the best from both worlds. For the moment i´m listening to the new Testament and it fucking rocks!

11. Outside of music what are some of your interests?
All kinds of sports but my interest lies mostly on hockey and football.

12. Any final words or thoughts before we wrap up this interview?
Try and give our new album a listen, Heavy metal from Stockholm/Sweden at it´s best!!
