Eagle Twin/The Feather Tipped The Serpent's Scale/Southern Lord/2012 CD Review

Eagle  Twin  are  a  band  from  Salt  Lake  City,  Utah  that  plays  a  mixture  of  sludge,  stoner,  drone  and  doom  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2012  album  "The  Feather  Tipped  The  Serpent's  Scale"  which  was  released  by  Southern  Lord  Records.

Drums  range  from  slow  to  mid  paced  drumming  with  not  much  in  the  way  of  fast  playing  or  blast  beats,  while  the  bass  playing  has  a  very  strong  and  powerful  sound  with  heavy  riffing  that  dominates  throughout  the  recording.

Rhythm  guitars  range  from  slow  to  mid  paced  riffs  that  combine  sludge,  drone,  stoner  and  doom  metal  together  to  create  a  sound  of  their  own  as  well  as  some  dark  sounding  melodies  in  addition  there  is  a  brief  use  of  clean  playing,  while  the  lead  guitars  are  very  dark  sounding  doom  metal  guitar  solos  and  leads.

Vocals  are  all  clean  singing  doom/stoner  metal  vocals,  while  the  lyrics  cover  the  mythology  and  symbolism  of  snakes,  as  for  the  production  it  has  a  very  strong,  powerful,  dark,  heavy  and  professional  sound  where  you  can  hear  all  of  the  musical  instruments  that  are  present  on t his  recording  with  the  songs  being  long  and  epic  in  length.

In  my opinion  Eagle  Twin  are  a  very  great  sounding  hybrid  of  drone,  doom,  stoner  and  sludge  metal  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  band.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Ballad  Of  Job  Cain  Part  1"  "Snake  Hymn"  and  "Horn  Snake  Hymn".  RECOMMENDED  BUY.
